KENNEWICK, Wash. - Blake Gal scored 4 minutes, 52 seconds into overtime to lift the Spokane Chiefs past the Tri-City Americans 3-2 on Sunday night for a 3-2 lead in their Western Hockey League Western Conference semifinal series before 4,014 at Toyota Center.

Gal came out of the penalty box, joined a 2-on-2 rush, took a cross-ice pass from Dominik Uher, and scored.

Game 6 is Tuesday night at the Spokane Arena.

Trailing 2-0 after two periods, Tri-City scored twice in the third period, with Carter Ashton's goal with 1:01 left in regulation forcing overtime.

Jared Cowen scored on the rebound following a shot by former Coeur d'Alene Laker Tyler Johnson just 27 seconds into the game for Spokane.
