Bengals win Cd'A Invitational

HAYDEN LAKE - Jordan Hintz shot a 96 and teammate Chelsea Porter a 97 to help the Coeur d'Alene Viking girls golf team to a third-place finish in wintry conditions Monday at the Coeur d'Alene Invitational at Hayden Lake Country Club.
Lewiston's Amy Hasenoehrl was the medalist with a 79 to pace the Bengals, who won the team title.
"I'm proud of the all girls for such a good attitude and finishing up strong in snowy conditions," Coeur d'Alene coach Keri Jaworski said. "During the storm the balls looked like little snowmen."
Priscilla Duran carded a 97 to pace the Lake City team, which finished fifth. Maddie Dodge's 80 was the low round for Post Falls, which finished sixth.
Coeur d'Alene, Lake City and Post Falls all play Friday at the Big East at Wandermere.

Viking boys 2nd at Kraus Invite
HAYDEN LAKE - Mike Porter shot a 5-over 76 to lead four Coeur d'Alene boys in the 70s and a second-place finish at the Kraus Invitational at Avondale Golf Club.
Brenna Stillinger (77) and Hunter Kraft and John Duffin (78s) gave the Vikings a team score of 309, two shots behind Central Valley.
"Mike's round was impressive, and our four in the 70s was pretty respectable," Coeur d'Alene coach Bryan Duncan said. "The conditions were horrible, but we have been practicing hard and we competed hard today.
"The boys are coming along at the right time of year."
Corey Beavers's 75 paced the Post Falls team, which finished fifth. Spencer Skipper and Kevin Porto carded 81s to lead seventh-place Lake City. Derek Bayley's 77 led Lakeland to an 11-th place finish.
The area 5A teams and Lakeland are back in action next Monday at the Sandpoint Invitational at the Idaho Club.
