EPHRATA - The Ephrata Tigers boys tennis team moved to 2-0 in CWAC play with a 4-1 win against visiting Toppenish on Saturday.
Ephrata swept singles play behind No. 1 Hunter Sears (6-2, 6-1), and No. 2 Thomas Pheasant (6-0-, 6-0).
Doubles play captured the team win as the No. 1 team of Connar Sears and Michael Bosnar rolled to a 6-3, 6-3 win and the No. 3 team of Jordan Brzezny and Calvin Callhan won 6-1, 6-2.
The No. 2 team of Mauricio Contreras and Michael McDonnell fell in a third-set tiebreaker.
"The best match of the day took place at second doubles," Ephrata head coach Deanna Brown said. "Micheal and Mauricio played a solid match which could have gone either way as both teams were very evenly matched. Both first singles and first doubles remain undefeated."
In girls play, the Lady Tigers fell 4-1 to the visiting Wildcats.
Securing the only team point for Ephrata (1-1) was No. 2 singles player Naomi Kooistra who rolled to a 6-1, 6-0 win.
