ROYAL CITY - Royal moved to 9-1 overall and 8-1 in South Central Athletic Conference (SCAC) play with a solid 4-1 win over Mabton on Saturday.

"The boys had a big test against Mabton," Royal head coach Jens Jensen said. "Mabton is stronger than the score reflects, but the boys played well and produced a favorable result."

The hot scoring of senior Adam Martinez continued as he buried two goals for the homestanding Knights and Uriel Carmona also had a brace, knocking in a shot one minute after entering in the second half.

Mabton would not score until the match's later moments.

"Despite Mabton getting a consolation goal late, all in all the boys kept their heads and stuck to the business of killing the game off by keeping Mabton's dangerous players from getting into the match," Jensen said.
