WARDEN - Continuing their recent run of dominant play, the Warden Lady Cougars swept visiting Mabton 22-0 and 18-0 on Saturday in Central Washington South 2B play.
Warden (9-2, 6-0) got winning pitching performances from Iris Rodriguez and Cassondra Platas while the offense racked up 27 hits and the defense didn't commit an error all day.
"We played Manson, a real young team," Warden head coach Wes Richins said. "It gave us the opportunity to take a good look at some of our younger players in different positions."
Warden scored in every inning, securing two five-inning, mercy wins.
In the opener, Platas, Rodriguez, Elizabeth Pruneda, Bianca Hernandez, Tawnie Gonsalez and Amanda Elizalde all had two hits. Gonsalez belted a three-run homerun, and Hernandez ended up with four RBI.
Rodriguez threw 14 strikeouts in her no-hit effort.
Platas and Brylee Whitney combined for a no-hitter in the second game and the offense generated 11 hits.
Rodriguez hit a three-run homerun and knocked in seven runs, while she and Elizalde, Whitney, and Gonsalez had two hits apiece.
