COEUR d'ALENE - Visitors will find plenty of displays, presentations and activities at the 11th annual Coeur d'Alene Earth Day celebration.
Yoga, roller derby, rodeo, artwork and music among them.
"I hope we get a good turnout," said coordinator Sharon Bosley. "I think the weather is going to be in our favor."
Festivities will start Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Coeur d'Alene Public Library. The celebration will run until 3 p.m.
"It's actually the first year that we've partnered with the Coeur d'Alene Green Team," Bosley said.
Earth Day Everyday is the theme of this year's family-themed event. The celebration will focus on the balance of our planet and our role in maintaining it, while offering the community Earth-friendly alternatives for everyday living.
Children can hunt for Easter eggs, ride in a bike rodeo and check out a fleet of electric cars. Other attractions include a roller derby display on the basketball courts, an environmentally-themed yoga class, live music and a presentation on the Coeur d'Alene Basin.
Across the park from the library, the Coeur d'Alene Audubon Society will conduct tours on Tubbs Hill. There will be a unique Art on the Edge sculpture, too.
"I'm really excited to see that," Bosley said. "We may actually auction off the sculpture once it's completed."
Admission is free, and attendees who arrive on foot or bicycle will receive a free raffle ticket.
"The main goal of the Earth Day Coeur d'Alene is to educate the community, and to bring awareness to environmental issues," Bosley said.
