Whitefish High School announced last

week that Wendy Farrens was hired as the new girls soccer coach.

She replaced Erin Morrison, who coached the Lady Bulldogs for two

seasons and led the team to the Class A state title game last

fall.

Farrens is a native of Montana but grew

up in Alabama, where her club team won seven state championships

and participated in the regional tournament each year. She attended

Colorado College and earned a degree in history while playing on

the college’s Division I soccer team. The Tigers were a Conference

USA finalist and earned an at-large bid in the NCAA tournament in

2007.

After graduating in December 2007,

Farrens accepted a position as a graduate assistant in the athletic

department at Texas Christian University. She worked as a tutor

coordinator for all sports. She was the academic advisor for

various athletes in all sports, but primarily worked with men’s

basketball and men’s and women’s tennis. In addition to her

responsibilities as an assistant academic advisor, Farrens earned a

master’s in education administration in 2010.

After moving to Whitefish last summer,

Farrens began coaching with the Bigfork Bandits soccer club.

Farrens has also coached players at various camps, including the

University of Alabama and Colorado College’s summer camps. She

currently holds a USSF “E” license and participated in the USSF “D”

coaching clinic this past winter.
