CUT BANK - Polson went undefeated in the first day of the Cut Bank Invitational last Friday running up their dual record to 7-0 on the season before falling to Cut Bank on Saturday.

"The girls did very well," Polson head coach Bob Hislop said. "Cut Bank was second in the state last year for B/C."

Even with three varsity girls gone because of a music festival in Missoula, Polson got the job done thanks to undefeated weekends by Whitney Zimmerman, Jordan Quinn and Kenzie Clay.

On Friday, the Lady Pirates down Havre 6-1 as Kendyall Rochin, Zimmerman and Karly Rochin picked up singles victories while the doubles teams swept.

Quinn picked the No. 1 singles win in Polson's 7-0 sweep of Hardin, with an 8-3 victory over Danielle Anderson. Zimmerman and Kendyal Rochin picked up the No. 1 doubled victory in that dual.

Kendyall Rochin moved back to the No. 1 spot for the 7-0 sweep of Lewiston and downed Christina Mack 8-0.

Zimmerman defeated Kayla Olson 8-0 in the No. 2 spot and in doubles action, Clay and Quinn teamed up for a 8-2 win over Lewiston's No. 1 team.

On Saturday, facing Cut Bank, Zimmerman defeated Taylor Harvie 8-3 in the No. 2 singles matchup for Polson's lone singles win but the Lady Pirates bounced back by winning two out of three doubles matches.

Kenzie Clay and Jordan Quinn were able to keep there weekend perfect with a 8-2 win over Cut Bank's Emily Anderson and Mariah McCormick 8-2.

Lady Pirates continue strong singles play against Columbia Falls

COLUMBIA FALLS - Senior Kendyall Rochin picked up a 6-2, 6-0 victory over Columbia Falls' Gabrielle Stenger in the No. 1 singles matchup as Polson downed their Northwestern A conference foe 5-2 in dual play on Tuesday, April 12.

Zimmerman also picked up the No. 2 singles bout with a 3-6, 6-2, 6-0 victory over Natalie Law. Rochin's sister, Karly, picked up a victory too and the Lady Pirates took three out of four in singles play.

While C-Falls won the No. 1 doubles matchup, No. 2 Polson doubles McKenna Emerick and Gabi Kellers and No. 3 doubles team Tegan Bauer and Mollybeth Hendrix both picked up victories for the Lady Pirates.

Evertz has undefeated weekend for Pirates

Justin Evertz can do both as he showed over the weekend as the Polson boys tennis team went 2-2 at the Cut Bank Invitational in dual action.

"Most of the teams that we played were a lot older than us," Polson head coach Bob Hislop said.

On Friday at the Cut Bank Invitational, Evertz and doubles teammate Will Davey downed Brayden Grimson and Keenan Dolezai 8-2 as the Pirates took the 5-2 dual victory over Havre.

Then Evertz switched teammates to Hayden Congdon and defeated John Joyce and Wayne Bowman 8-5 but Polson dropped the dual, 5-2 to Hardin.

"The boys doubles just keep improving and improving," Hislop said.

Evertz then moved to the No. 1 singles spot where he defeated Ethan Benzz of Lewistown, 8-3, as the Pirates won their second dual of the day, 4-2.

On Saturday, Polson engaged into a tight battle with last year's state B/C runner up, Cut Bank. The Pirates split

in singles action with freshman Brady Hislop picking up the win against Nathan Voeller, 8-5, and Andrew Storro also picked up a win for the Pirates over Jeremy Moss, 8-3 in the No. 3 singles matchup. Cut Bank won the other two singles matchups.

In doubles action, it was Davey and Evertz again at the No. 1 spot and they downed Nate Kavanuagh and Chaz Cooper 8-3. Evertz finished the weekend Cut Bank would win the dual though, 4-3, winning the next two doubles matchups.

Hislop said he noticed the strong winds, which were between 40 and 45 miles per hour.

"Teams like Hardin, Cut Bank and Havre play in that stuff all the time so they're use to it," Hislop said. "We visibly struggled with it, the biggest thing is serving."

Hislop added that the state tournament is in Great Falls, infamous for their winds, so he plans for the team to work on an adjusted service motion.

Overall, he said he was pleased with the way the team performed.

"All of the kids did a nice job," he said.

Polson defeats Columbia Falls

COLUMBIA FALLS - The Pirates continued to look impressive in

Northwestern A action, downing Columbia Falls 5-2 on Tuesday, April 12.

Freshman Brady Hislop picked up the No. 1 singles victory over C-Fall's Parker Johnson, 6-4, 7-5.

"Brady got a very important win important win over Johnson," Hislop said. "Johnson is one of the three best players in the conference."

The Wildcats would win the No. 2 and No. 3 singles matches before Sam Kinzle picked up the win for Polson at the No. 4 slot with a 6-4, 6-7 (3-7), 6-4 victory over Andrew West.

In doubles action, the Pirates got the wins they needed. Justin Evertz and Will Davey won the No. 1 matchup over Brian Marcille and Jordan Mueller 7-5, 7-5, while Ian Laimbeer and Dylan McCrumb won at the No. 2 doubles matchup and Reed Hovenkotter and Sam Peel completed the doubles sweep with a win at the No. 3 slot.

"Columbia Falls is a tough place to play in tennis because they have those sports courts which are like puzzle pieces snapped together," Hislop said. "It simulates an asphalt tennis court but it's very tough."
