POST FALLS - A 35-year-old Post Falls man was arrested on Thursday on second-degree kidnapping and robbery charges after he allegedly forced his ex-girlfriend to withdraw money from her bank account.

Gregory S. Shores allegedly told his 23-year-old ex-girlfriend that he had a gun and threatened to harm her on Wednesday.

The two came into contact with each other at the Dollar Tree on Cecil Road and Shores allegedly told her to get inside his vehicle.

"(She) complied out of fear and got in," according to police reports. "He made several demands of her."

The woman told police that, while he said he had a gun, one was never displayed.

Shores allegedly took the woman's cell phone and demanded that she withdraw $200 from her account at Panhandle State Bank.

Shores then drove around Post Falls with the alleged victim for four hours before returning her to her vehicle at the business.

Shores told the woman to not call police or she would be harmed.

"He detained her against her will," police Chief Scot Haug said.

Haug said Shores admitted to police that he committed the crimes.

Shores and the woman met online and dated for about a year before the two broke up and she moved in with family, according to police. He moved to Post Falls from Davenport, Iowa.
