SANDPOINT - Kevin Kirby and Sophia Meulenberg notched decisive straight-set wins at No. 1 singles, leading the Sandpoint tennis team to a 10-2 dispatching of 4A Inland Empire League rival Moscow on Saturday at Travers Park.

Kane Wijngaarden and freshman Darby Pierce each scored grinding three-set wins at No. 2 singles for the Bulldogs.

Bulldogs coach Kent Anderson had high praise for the play of his girls singles, as Courtney Windju won in straight sets to complete the singles sweep.

"Sophie had a good win against her adversary; she just keeps the ball in play and dominates," said Anderson, also lauding the play of Pierce, who beat a seasoned exchange student from Finland. "It's pretty nice to see a ninth grader beat someone of that caliber."
