POST FALLS - A 17-year-old Spirit Lake girl was arrested on Friday night for eluding and leaving the scene of an accident after a vehicle chase from Post Falls to south of Coeur d'Alene on U.S. 95.

According to Post Falls Police, the teen, who was allegedly driving a stolen 1995 Ford Aerostar van out of Bonner County, failed to stop at the signalized intersection of Highway 41 and Poleline Avenue at 8:30 p.m.

The girl didn't stop for an officer on Highway 41 and the chase reached about 85 mph in a 45 mph zone, according to police. The van sideswiped two stopped vehicles at the intersection of Highway 41 and Mullan.

The chase then went eastbound on Interstate 90, where the Kootenai County Sheriff's Department and Idaho State Police took over the pursuit. It continued on Northwest Boulevard in Coeur d'Alene and southbound on U.S. 95.

The pursuit ended south of Coeur d'Alene and the girl was arrested by a deputy without incident.

"The vehicle just pulled over about 8 miles south of town," said Maj. Ben Wolfinger of the KCSD.

The girl, whose name was not released by law enforcement on Monday, was charged with felony eluding, leaving the scene of an accident, an invalid driver's license and possession of a stolen vehicle.
