The Kootenai County commissioners will determine how to improve standards for shoreline disturbances this week.
The three officials will hold deliberations this Thursday on a proposed text amendment to the county's site disturbance ordinance.
The amendment would streamline and clarify language in the ordinance. It would also add new exceptions that would allow some use of mechanical equipment on shorelines, and allow some projects to occur within buffer zones, if the commissioners deem that the projects benefit the public.
The commissioners collected testimony on the proposed amendment at a hearing earlier this month.
The deliberations are scheduled for 10 a.m. on Thursday in the board chambers in the county Administration Building.
