An event next week at Libby High School

is designed to remind teens and adults about the dangers associated

with drinking and driving.

The From Shattered Dreams To Living

Your Dream program will be Wednesday, May 4 at the high school gym

from 12:45 to 3:15 p.m.

The program involves a dramatization of

an alcohol-related crash on the high school campus. Students watch

as police and ambulance personnel respond to the scene.

In 2010, 20 percent of Lincoln County

eight, 10th and 12th graders reported binge drinking in the last

two weeks. Binge drinking is the consumption of five or more drinks

in a row by men or four or more drinks in a row by women.

Some 32 percent of students in the

county reported having ridden in a car in the past 30 days with

someone who had been drinking.

As part of the Shattered Dreams

program, Michael Gershe will present The Magic of Life talk. Gershe

shares a son’s story of how a tragic drunken driving incident

killed his mother and almost himself when he was barely 8 weeks old

impacted his life.

Combining stand-up comedy, audience

participation, The Magic of Life is not only an alcohol awareness

program, but also a program that inspires people to pursue their

dreams.
