WALLA WALLA - After three straight fifth place POD finishes, the Moses Lake girls golf team captured fourth at the Walla Walla POD on Monday.

Moses Lake shot a 428 to beat out the hosts by four strokes.

The Chiefs were led by Vanessa Goodwin's 91 which according to coach Lonny Brown, was her career best, and good enough for a tie for 5th place on the day.

Chief Jacy Jones also shot a career best 94 to end up in eighth place.

"It was a very exciting day for us to finally move up one place in the pod matches," Brown said. "Vanessa and Jacy are starting to peak at the right time with districts just around the corner."

The top eight golfers in the standings head into the state tournament.

Kristi Brown shot a 113 and Katrina Ulnick a 130 to round out the Moses Lake scoring.

Moses Lake remains in fifth place in POD play with 13 team points, behind Walla Walla's 16-point total.
