Tiger Cub Pack No. 114 visited the Bonners Ferry Herald Tuesday to receive their badge on communications.

The four first graders came to learn about how information is passed to the public through Boundary County’s only newspaper and oldest business. 

With happy, toothless grins and giggles the boys were shown around the Herald office and had the opportunity to look at old Herald papers dating back to 1896.

When the boys were told that the Herald was started in 1891 they were amazed.  They asked great questions about where the Herald is printed and how the paper gets the information they print.

Tiger Cub Pack committee chairwoman Nadine Colegrove verbally quizzed the boys about what they learned.  With their own flare they answered the questions correctly. They seemed to be genuinely interested in the how the Herald operates.

Pack leader Tyler Zimmerman took the Tiger Cubs out for ice cream after the tour since they did such a good job listening and learning.

The Herald staff told them about how their visit would be in the paper the following week, with amazement they all said, “wow.”
