season, picking up two wins and improving their record to 7-2

thanks to gutsy wins against Loyola Sacred Heart and Eureka last

week.

EUREKA - The Lady Bulldogs continued to power through the season, picking up two wins and improving their record to 7-2 thanks to gutsy wins against Loyola Sacred Heart and Eureka last week.

On Tuesday, Mission-Arlee-Charlo and Loyola found themselves locked in a tough pitchers battle before the Lady Bulldogs were able to break through with four runs in the bottom of the fifth en route to a 7-1 victory.

Loyola, which was without it's main pitcher, put Laura Snook in the circle and her change of pace was able to keep the Lady Bulldogs off of homeplate... for a little while.

"They adjusted and got their bats going," MAC head coach Susan Weaselhead said. "Both teams had a really tight defense."

Along with very strong defense (MAC only commited one error in the game), the offense was sparked by Kinley Pope and Janeal McDonald, who both went 2-for-4.

Pope had a double and two RBIs while Mc-Donald had three RBIs.

"I definitely can rely on Kinley and Janeal," Weaselhead said.

On Thursday in Eureka, the Lady Bulldogs not only contended with an opposing softball team, but the weather as well.

"It was cold, it rained, it snowed and the field got pretty muddy," Weaselhead said.

MAC built a 7-1 lead before it started blizzarding and then Eureka mounted a rally and cut the score to within 7-5.

"It's tough on the girls," Weaselhead said. "But they pulled it back together and shut them down."

Olson anchored the team with seven strikeouts, and Eureka couldn't quite chip away enough as the Lady Bulldogs picked up their seventh win of the season.

Along with being on the mound, Olson has proved to be solid at the plate, going 3-for-4.

"She had some nice hits up in Eureka," Weaselhead said. "She is just a real strong force. She has that pitching sense so she knows what is coming at you."

While a pitcher that can hit is nothing new, it's rare to have Olson's consistency at the plate.

"I don't see as much consistency as I see in Kyla," Weaselhead said. "It's unique."

While Olson has dealt with a knee injury and is always subbed in with a pinch runner, she is no doubt a strong contributer to the offense.

Sariha Camacho went 3-for-4 with a double, and Pope went 2-for 4 with a double, a triple and three RBIs.
