HIGHLAND - They have found ways to win big, win in the clutch, and simply, just win.

The Royal Knights soccer team took an early lead on Tuesday at Highland and held on for a 2-1 South Central Athletic Conference (SCAC) win as they moved to 12-1 overall and 11-1 in league play.

Next up is a showdown with Wahluke on Friday for the league title.

Wahluke is the only team to have beaten Royal this year, winning 2-1 in overtime last month.

"We were cruising at halftime," Royal head coach Jens Jensen said. "In the second half we struggled a but, but the boys survived."

The win also secured another season sweep over a longtime league rival according to Jensen.

Royal got both of their goals in the first half with Luis Esquivel knocking one in at the six-minute mark and Shaq Ledezma tallying goal number two inside the 20-minute mark.

Royal goalie Lupe Arceo had five saves.
