BASEBALL

POST FALLS - The Post Falls Trojans got complete-game pitching performances from Zach Carter and Tony Davidson and swept the Lake City Timberwolves 14-6 and 10-0 in 5A Inland Empire League play Friday.

In the first game, Post Falls (7-7, 3-6 5A IEL) broke a 2-all tie with seven runs in the fifth inning. Matt Hammond and Carter each hit two-run singles, and Gil Givens capped the inning with a three-run double.

Davidson pitched a two-hit shutout with four strikeouts in the second game. Zack Reeder, Darnell Metcalf, Riley Denney and Jordan Quast drove in two runs each.

Starting with a win over Lewiston last Saturday in the second game of a doubleheader, Post Falls has now won four straight.

"I've been telling the kids, we're not as bad as our scores have shown - we just have a bad inning and it gets away from us," Post Falls coach Mick Zeller said. "Once we got that 'W' against Lewiston, we've been hitting the ball well and fielding the ball well."

On Thursday, Post Falls won the first game 8-4 at Bonners Ferry. The Trojans were leading 14-5 in the second when the game was called due to darkness.

Post Falls travels to Moscow on Monday for a doubleheader. Lake City (7-10, 2-7) is home against Lewiston for a doubleheader on Tuesday.
