Fall sports practices and meetings

In preparation for fall sports at Columbia Falls High School, a parent-athlete-coaches meeting will take place in the Little Theater on Tuesday, Aug. 9, at 6 p.m. All parents and athletes involved in fall sports are encouraged to attend.
Practice for football will begin Aug. 12. Practice for all other fall sports including soccer, football, golf, volleyball, cross country and cheerleading will begin Aug. 15. Practice and try-out times will be posted at the high school by the individual coaches, and these times will be discussed at the Aug. 9 meeting.
All participants must complete a physical exam before they will be allowed to practice in any of these activities. There are no exceptions to this rule.Practice and try-out schedules starting Monday, Aug. 15:
Football 8-10 a.m. and noon to 2 p.m.
Boys soccer 9-11 a.m. and 2-4:30 p.m.
Girls soccer 7:30 -9 a.m. and 4:30-6 p.m.
Volleyball 8-11 a.m. for grades 10-12 and 11:30 a.m. -1:30 p.m. for grade 9
Cross country 8 a.m. at the high school track

Whitefish Mountain Resort’s post-season uphill policy expired last week, but with significant snowfall and changing weather conditions, the resort reminds skier and hikers that avalanche hazards in the ski area’s permitted boundaries do exist.
