Forest Service road delays, closures announced
Hungry Horse News | Hagadone News Network | UPDATED 14 years, 4 months AGO
Travelers can expect up to 90-minute delays on Whale Creek Road, Forest Service Road 318 in the North Fork, while Forest Service crews replace culverts along a three-mile stretch of the road near Ninko Creek. The work is expected to be completed by Aug. 5.
Two other roads in the North Fork are temporarily closed. Moose Creek Road, Forest Road 210C, will be closed about one mile before the trailhead for Moose Creek Trail 9, and the entire length of Moran Creek Road, Forest Road 5241, will be closed.
The temporary closures are designed to mitigate disturbance to grizzly bears while the Red Whale Fuels Reduction Project is underway. The roads will re-open when the project halts this fall and will close again next summer when the project continues.
In the Hungry Horse Reservoir area, travelers should be aware of continuing gravel resurfacing work along the Eastside Reservoir Road.
