COEUR d'ALENE - Two people were injured Friday afternoon in a two-vehicle rear-end collision in congested traffic on Interstate 90 in Coeur d'Alene, according to the Idaho State Police.

A 22-year-old Pinehurst man, Michael Etherton, was headed eastbound in a 1994 Chevrolet pickup truck when he ran into the back of another vehicle, police said. It happened near the city center exit.

Both the driver, Saundra Carver, 30, of Greenacres, Wash., and her passenger, 4-year-old Ethan Carver, of the other vehicle were injured, police said.

The Carvers, in a 2007 Honda CRV, were taken to Kootenai Medical Center.

Those involved were either wearing a seat belt or in a car seat, police said.

Multiple other crashes Friday afternoon delayed traffic on the interstate in Coeur d'Alene for several hours.
