MOSES LAKE - More than 100 people in red streamed into Moses Lake High School Wednesday evening to share support for a common cause.

They wanted Moses Lake's Caitlynn Lawson to win the FOX Television show "So You Think You Can Dance?"

The Moses Lake High School drill team, the Molahiettes, threw a barbecue and viewing party to raise funds for their team and to show support for Lawson, a former Molahiette, who won a spot as one of the top six dancers on "So You Think You Can Dance?"

The viewing party was a way of "supporting (Lawson) and letting her know how much Moses Lake loves her and how proud we are that she got this far," said Heather Calder, the booster club representative for the drill team. "For her to get that far and be from a small town in Moses Lake ... it's amazing."

Calder has watched Lawson dance since the Moses Lake teen was about three years old, she said. Calder is an instructor at Today's Generation dance studio in Moses Lake, where Lawson danced.

"Literally about a year ago, we had a drill team thing and I said, 'she is the one - watch her, because you will see her on TV sometime in the future,'" said Calder.

Junior McKenna Reis, drill team lieutenant, and senior Megan Roylance, drill team captain, said they had danced with Lawson since she was little. Performing on the show has always been Caitlynn's dream, said Reis.

"She was also part of the Moses Lake High School drill team, she was our captain," she said. "And so when she went off, we all just supported her. This is a dream of hers and we're all there to help her make it happen."

"It's kind of inspiring, actually," said Roylance. "She has worked so hard for it, to get where she is. So it makes us want to work just as hard, in that we know that we can do our best."

"I went on a trip to Canada the other day and people were talking about Caitlynn," said Reis. "I had a chance to say that I knew her and grew up and danced with her. It's a really awesome experience. And then to see how well she's doing, and when she mentions our town it's like a little shout out."
