Eleanor Pittsley, 85

Eleanor Hauglum Pittsley went to be with Our Lord in Heaven on Sunday, Aug. 7, 2011. She was born July 5, 1926, in Williston, N.D., to Berry and Marie (Fraelich) Hauglum, along with nine other siblings.

Born a Prairie Girl, she lived in farming areas most of her life. Eleanor was the forth child of 10. She graduated from high school in Williston and worked with the U.S. Navy in the Finance Department in Washington, D.C., for two years during World War II. She worked in Minneapolis, Minn., for another year before returning to Williston. She then married Robert H. Pittsley in Sidney, Mont., on Oct. 3, 1949. After farming in Keene, N.D., and having two children the family moved to Idaho in 1951 where they resided in Dalton Gardens.

Eleanor was a homemaker, a gardener and a seamstress. She had several hobbies and enjoyed traveling with their Good Sam Club after retirement and also was a member of Happy Homemakers of Dalton Gardens. Her husband preceded her in death in 2001 after 52 years of marriage.

She is survived by a son, Robert G. Pittsley and his wife, Cindy of Post Falls; a daughter, Anabelle S. Fox and her significant other, Alex Piper of Pasco, Wash.; three grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; sisters, Bernice Prindle of North Bend, Wash., Helen Ginn of Highlands, Texas, Judith Ginn and Francis Hunter of Missoula, Mont.; a brother, Lawrence Hauglum of Missoula; a large number of in-laws from both sides of the family with numerous cousins as well as 76 nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by sisters, Christella Kummer of Sandpoint, Rose McKinney and her baby of Missoula; brothers, Carl and Stanley Hauglum of Williston; and her parents.

A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 12, 2011, at Coeur d’Alene Memorial Gardens with a reception following at Yates Hayden Chapel Gathering Center. You may visit Eleanor’s memorial and sign her online guest book at www.yatesfuneralhomes.com.
