COEUR d'ALENE - Frank Whitney Sr. of Graham, Wash., is the 2011 Big One Chinook Derby winner.

Fishing on the south end of Lake Coeur d'Alene Friday morning, Whitney reeled in a 24.6-pound chinook. The 36.25-inch salmon was officially weighed at Gateway Marina in Harrison.

Whitney claimed a $5,000 prize. He also won the 1998 Big One Derby with a 23.5-pounder.

Second place belongs to Lake Coeur d'Alene Angler's Association Chairman Roger Blackstone, who hooked a 24.46-pound chinook on Thursday. The fish measured 36 inches from nose to tail.

Russ Bothman's 34-inch chinook, weighing 20.72 pounds, rounded out the top three finishers.

An awards ceremony will be held on Sunday, Aug. 14, at the Coeur d'Alene Inn on Appleway. For full derby results, check lcaaidaho.com.
