Parking lot hearing set
Coeur d'Alene Press | UPDATED 13 years, 9 months AGO
A proposed parking lot that has stirred concern among vocal community members will go before the Kootenai County commissioners on Thursday night.
Doug Anderson, owner of Big Rock Timber Development, LLC, is requesting a conditional use permit to allow a parking lot, crosswalk across Highway 97 and dock access just south of Coeur d'Alene.
The lot, which would be north of Gotham Bay Road, would provide parking for the 11 double-slip community dock for Gotham Bay Estates.
Parking would be limited to residents of Gotham Bay Estates. The conservation design subdivision has sold about 7 lots so far, and has a few homes.
Anderson has said the lot already exists, but was previously intended for a storage facility.
Some nearby residents have worried that the lot is located near a dangerous curve in the highway and could result in more accidents.
The project is being proposed as a private resort.
The hearing is scheduled for 6 p.m. on Thursday night in room 1 of the Kootenai County Administration Building.
