Corsair coming to Cd'A's Pappy Boyington Field
Coeur d'Alene Press | UPDATED 14 years, 4 months AGO
A Vought F4U-5 Corsair will be stopping at Pappy Boyington Field about noon Saturday. The public is welcome to take a look at the vintage aircraft.
"With the historical connection between Pappy and the Corsair, this will be an excellent opportunity in our town to recognize the Centennial of Naval Aviation," said a press release.
The Corsair was a carrier-capable aircraft flown by Navy and Marine Corps pilots during World War II, and it also served in the Korean War.
This aircraft was purchased in 1995 by Raymond Thompson of Kalispell.
The Corsair is flown by Steve Bakke, who will share information about the plane during the visit.
The public is encouraged to join the Marine Corps League Pappy Boyington Detachment in welcoming the Corsair to Pappy Boyington Field.
It will be at the southern section of the airport.
