Mulduar headlines Bluz Fest Aug. 19-20
The Spirit Lake Red Wine & Bluz Fest is welcoming Maria Mulduar as the headline act for the longtime event, expanded this year to a two-day event on Aug. 19-20. Mulduar is a renowned recording artist and six-time Grammy nominee, including her recent 2011 Grammy nomination. Her most famous 1970s hit, "Midnight at the Oasis" is still being played on radio stations nationwide. This will be Mulduar's only appearance in the Pacific Northwest this year and she is regarded as one of the top female blues artists in the nation.
The Bluz Fest will also include regional sensations The Red Hot Blues Sisters, Big Daddy and the Blue Notes, and The Smokehouse Blues Band. Local favorites Gary Yeoman, VOODOO Church and Triple Shot will also be performing.
The family-friendly event includes an arts and crafts fair, which has been expanded to include booths in the park along Third and Fourth avenues. A kid's fair will be held in the small city park complete with music, games, food and fun.

'Field of Dreams' screening Aug. 19
COEUR d'ALENE - On Friday, Aug. 19, Time Warner Cable and KXLY 4 HD are proud to host the 5th annual Movie in the Park at Coeur d'Alene City Park.
This year's feature movie is the 1989 smash hit "Field of Dreams" starring Kevin Costner. This event has become a North Idaho tradition for families and movie fans of all ages. Attendees will be treated to "Field of Dreams," which was nominated for three Academy Awards, on a large screen in a beautiful outdoor setting for a memorable viewing experience.
"This year's event is so highly anticipated I wouldn't be surprised if we have record attendance; I expect there could be upwards of a thousand people at 2011's Movie in the Park," Correen Stauffer, area manager for Time Warner Cable, said.
"I can't think of a more family-fun summer evening than to be treated to a wonderful movie, free popcorn, games and other exciting surprises in such a beautiful park setting," Stauffer said.
The movie will begin at dusk, approximately 8:15 p.m. Friday, Aug. 19. There will be fun interactive activities from 6:30-8:15 p.m.
Time Warner Cable will have a Lucky Locker game where movie fans can try their luck at finding the winning key to the lockers and win MLB.com gift cards and more. Attendees to the event can also enter a raffle at the Time Warner tent to win WSU Baseball prizes. Bring your blankets and lawn chairs and be prepared to have a great time
