Arleigh Victor Luoma, 71

Arleigh Victor Luoma, 71, passed away Friday, Aug. 12, 2011. Arleigh was born May 11, 1940, the son of Harold and Mary Luoma, and he was a lifelong resident of the Silver Valley.

He is survived by his wife, Esther, of Coeur d'Alene; son, Alec, of Coeur d'Alene; sisters, brothers-in-law and sister-in-law are Patty and John Allen of Meridian, Saralyn and Dennis Anderson of Coeur d'Alene, and Helen Dieter; grandson, Cameron Luoma; nieces and nephews, John Allen, Jeremy Allen, Teresa Eliason, Mary Bowman, Sara Hutchinson and Tyson Dieter; many great-nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his son, Eric; his parents, Harold and Mary Luoma; his grandparents, Victor and Susan Marie Luoma, and Sarah and John "Scottie" Cameron.

Arleigh graduated from Kellogg High School. He worked as a shifter at Bunker Hill Mine and as a logger. He enjoyed music and played the saxophone at many community events. He was proud of his Finnish and Scottish heritage. He was a giving and caring person. He loved to tell jokes and stories. He was a true friend and he will be greatly missed.

A memorial service for Arleigh and his son, Eric, will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Hunt Cemetery Association, Kingston, Idaho. Yates Funeral Home, Coeur d'Alene Chapel, is entrusted with the care of final arrangements.
