GEORGE - Jesus Chavez, 29, of George died on July 30 at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle from injuries suffered in a single-car crash south of George on July 24.

Authorities are still investigating the incident. They ask possible witnesses and anyone with pertinent information to call Sgt. Ron Renken or Deputy Tyson Voss at 754-2011, ext. 468.

Chavez was discovered in a ditch along Frenchman Hills Road near Road O SW at about 2:20 a.m. on the 24th. His damaged 2003 Honda Accord was nearby in the roadway.

A preliminary investigation indicated Chavez failed to negotiate a curve. The car struck a canal ditch, rolled several times and came to rest in the middle of the road.

According to the Grant County Sheriff's office, Chavez was not wearing a seatbelt, and speed was a contributing factor in the accident.
