He was born Dec. 7, 1958, to George and Gladys Wendt Babcock. He was raised and educated in Post Falls. He also served with the U.S. Army.

He was a multi-skilled man, good at whatever job he attempted to do, and enjoyed every bit of it: truck driving, mechanical work, carpentry, volunteer fireman and emergency medical technician. His greatest enjoyment of all was diving.

He is survived by his parents, brothers: Clyde, Steve and Ben; his son, Connor; three daughters: Stacie, Joleen and Sarah; three grandsons; one granddaughter; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Finally he is survived by his most faithful companion, Bridget the little dog.

For the past few years, he has been proudly involved as a volunteer fireman and EMT in Elbe, Wash. Thus, the family requests that any memorial gifts be sent to: Pierce 23 Fire and Rescue, P.O. Box 842, Elbe, WA 98330.

A gathering of family and friends will be held to celebrate his life Saturday, Aug. 27, 2011, at White Pines Park at 21st and Poleline on N. Spokane Street in Post Falls. A brief memorial will be held at 1 p.m., followed by a potluck picnic until 4 p.m. Please bring a salad or dessert and a lawn chair.
