COEUR d'ALENE - A Coeur d'Alene man was scammed while selling his gaming computer on website Craigslist.

He was seeking $900 for the computer and a purchaser sent him a cashier check for $2,100.

The victim was told to use nearly all the difference to pay the purchaser's "shipper," according to a police report.

The man deposited the cashier check into his account. He then withdrew cash from his ATM and met the shipper along U.S. 95 near Silverwood, giving him $1,150.

The purchaser did, however, tell the victim to keep $50 for his trouble.

The shipper never picked up the computer.

The cashier check turned out to be a fake.

The victim said the "shipper" was a Hispanic man, in his 30s, who was driving a black, extended-cab pickup truck.
