MOSES LAKE - A free a capella act and guitar performance filled McCosh Park's amphitheater with about 300 people Saturday.

The performances were a nice end to a hot day in Moses Lake, said audience member Christ Cartright, of Yakima.

She was attending the event with her two sons, ages 8 and 11.

Earlier Saturday, they visited the Moses Lake Farmer's Market and the Surf 'n Slide Water Park.

They attended a previous musical performance in Moses Lake three weeks ago.

"It was pretty interesting and we decided to come again with the boys," Cartright said.

Saturday's first performance was provided by international finger picking champion Steven King.

Cartright said she enjoyed his work and liked hearing familiar tunes.

King's performance included Seal's "Kiss From a Rose," the theme from the movie "ET," Herman's Hermits "I'm Into Something Good," Burt Bacharach's "Casino Royale," The Beach Boys "Kokomo," and Simon and Garfunkel's "Scarborough Fair."

He said he played in the "Slack Key Festival" in Honolulu, Hawaii, one year.

"Everyone but me played in the key of G," he recalled. "No one seemed to care."

His last song was Glenn Miller's big band era classic "In the Mood."

While waiting for the next act, Marie Pinard, of Moses Lake, said she loves the concerts in the park.

Her friend, Diana Bateman, of Kirkland, said she didn't remember concerts like this while growing up in Moses Lake.

She commented on the great ambiance, acoustics and turnout.

The last performance was given by The Coats, a contemporary a cappella group.

Their act includes versions of Electric Light Orchestra's "Don't Bring Me Down," Sonny and Cher's "The Beat Goes On," Bruce Springsteen's "I'm On Fire" and The Bangles' "Walk Like an Egyptian."

The audience laughed and applauded.
