A blue-ribbon-winning Queen Elizabeth rose is displayed at the Northwest Montana Fair. The rose was grown by Sharon Askelson of Kalispell, who competes in the advanced category and is a member of the American Rose Society. “We didn’t have much for roses this year because it’s been so hot,” said Askelson. “The fair is the wrong time of year for roses. Most of the roses are done right now.” Askelson has been competing at the fair for more than 30 years.
