Local, nationally known artist to hold oil painting workshop

A local, but nationally known artist, Robert Krogle, will hold an oil painting workshop, "Life Through My Eyes," sponsored by the Coeur d'Alene Art Association Sept. 30 to Oct. 1

It will be held at St. Luke's Episcopal Church on Fifth and Wallace from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Krogle is a recognized painter, lecturer and multi-award winner who brings an Impressionist style to Western contemporary themes in his art.

"It is important that my paintings have significance and purpose beyond a simple graphic representation," he said. "This means capturing the underlying character of my subject. I define art as not only a way of self-expression, but as an exploration of materials, methods and of myself, which undoubtedly result in an ever changing appearance of my work."

A California native, Robert received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the Chouinard Art Institute of Los Angeles in 1970. He enjoyed a successful career as a commercial artist with the film and recording industries and for many Fortune 500 companies for more than 30 years.

In 1992 Robert moved with his family to Coeur d'Alene where he began pursuing his love of Fine Art full time. In the years since, Robert's Best of Show Awards have been numerous. His painting "Cello Recital" was in the recent Oil Painters of America National Art Show at the Devin Gallery in Coeur d'Alene and sold the day after the Artists' Reception.

In his upcoming workshop, "Life Through My Eyes," there will be plenty of painting time for attendees concluding with formal critiques each day.

Robert will share "how I analytically grasp what I see and learning the skills to control the painting process. I will discuss my equipment, the materials I use and pallet management.

There will be short, casual demonstrations throughout and information on great digital and published sources of artists who inspire me and influence my work. Finally, a summation and review of the two days - bring plenty of paint, patience and a sense of humor."
