Plethora of weekend events abound

Take your pick on this weekend's vast activities.

Here's a sampling of what's shaking throughout Kootenai County:

* 26th annual Coeur d'Alene Wooden Boat Show - Boardwalk, 1-5 Saturday, 1-3 Sunday. Food, entertainment, merchandise. More than 60 wooden boats on display

* Parade of Homes - Today, 1-7, Saturday 11-6, Sunday, 11-4. Tickets are $5 and can be purchased at any featured home. For a booklet with a map of the homes, stop by The Press, 201 N. Second. Information: 765-5518 or www.nibca.com

* Seventh annual Festa Italiana - The Italian festival will be held from 4-8 p.m. today, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday in the Post Falls city center at Fourth and Frederick.

There will be food and craft booths, a beer and wine garden, music, kids' activities, cooking demonstrations, entertainment and Italian-themed contests.

The Third Friday Art Walk will also be held tonight in Post Falls' city center.

* Spirit Lake Red Wine and Bluz Fest: The open air concert on Maine Street will be held from noon to 11 p.m. today and Saturday.

Ticket prices range from $10 to $31. Children younger than 12 are free.

The Youth Equipped for Success (YES) will host a kids carnival and blues camp as a fundraiser today from 1-6 p.m. and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the city park. There will be games, music and entertainment. The blues camp has a child care open from 6 p.m. to 1 a.m. so parents can enjoy festivities.

A youth resource fair will also be available.

* Hauser Daze - There will be a youth fishing derby on the lake on Saturday from 5 a.m. to 2 p.m., a parade at 10 a.m. from Dinki D's to the boat launch and a car show and other activities at the park.

The theme is "Remember when ... ."

* Cops-n-Kids and Rodders-n-More Open House: Post Falls police, 1717 E. Polston Ave., from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.

Events include K-9 and SWAT demonstrations, station tours, current and vintage emergency vehicles on display, information booths and face painting.

* Carlin Bay Regatta: A crew boat race on Lake Coeur d'Alene will be held at 8 a.m. Cost to participate is $10 per person. Cost to attend is free. It is open to the public. Information: 765-3131

* Hayden Music Festival: The second Hayden Rocks event performed by the students of the Cd'A Rocks School and other groups will be held from 4:30-10 p.m. Saturday at City Park. There will be food and a beer and wine garden.
