TWIN LAKES - A fire damaged a Twin Lakes home on Monday night.
The blaze destroyed contents in the laundry/utility room and bathroom and caused smoke damage throughout the 1,100-square foot cabin at 9180 Twin Lakes Road.
The cause is undetermined , but appeared to be electrical in nature, possibly starting in the laundry/utility room.
The cabin is owned by William and Arlene Bertenshaw of Spokane. No one was home during the fire, which was reported at 10:55 p.m.
Northern Lakes Fire Spokesman Jim Lyon said the Bertenshaws have insurance.
"The fire was called in as a wildfire behind three cabins, but firefighters didn't see an active flame outside when they arrived," Lyon said, adding that there was a downed power line along the home.
The fire in the laundry room was quickly knocked down and did not spread outside of the structure.
Fire crews from Hauser, Spirit Lake and Kootenai County Fire and Rescue assisted Northern Lakes.
