Velma R. Trowbridge, 89

Velma R. Trowbridge, 89, went to be with her heavenly father Aug. 22, 2011, at Life Care Center in Coeur d'Alene.
She was born Aug. 1, 1922, to Beaulah E. (Sanders) and Ira W. Lamson in Hatfield, Ark. She married Lester A. Combs on Oct. 19, 1940. They moved to Idaho where Lester worked in the local mines in Burke before being killed in a mining accident on Oct. 10, 1962. She later married Bill Trowbridge in December 1967 and he preceded her in death on Oct. 30, 1976.
She worked various jobs over several years including, J.C. Penney, Rexall Drug, Shoshone County Motor Vehicle Department and Osburn Drug before retiring. She also volunteered at Good Samaritan Nursing Home and at the voting polls for many years. She was a member of the Bethany Lutheran Church in Osburn and upon moving to Coeur d'Alene in 1991 to be closer to family, became a member of Christ the King Lutheran Church.
She loved to crochet and made many crafts, especially blankets. She made hats for newborn babies and donated them to several local hospitals. There was nothing more important to her than family. She was a loving Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her parents; first and second husbands; two brothers, Bob Lamson and Kenneth Lamson; and a half-brother, Bill Thompson.
Survivors include her daughter, Connie (Dave) Amonson of Coeur d'Alene; grandaughter Christi (Shawn) Burns of Sagle; grandson Paul (Rena) Amonson of Hillsboro, Ore.; and great-grandson Caden Burns of Sagle. Survivors also include two sisters-in-law and several nieces and nephews.

Viewing will be held from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 1, 2011, at Yates Funeral Home, Coeur d'Alene Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 2, 2011, at Christ the King Lutheran Church.
