MARDON RESORT - The bass fishing out here at MarDon Resort continues to be just great. This week Largemouth to 8.5 pounds have been reported from the MarDon Fishing Dock.

The Bluegill, Perch, Crappie, and Trout action has also improved greatly on the dock this past week with the water level continuing to drop. The current water elevation is at 1,031.5, which in layman's terms is roughly 14 feet below full pool.

Walleyes continue to cooperate even with the 90-plus daytime temperatures. Jumbo Walleye to 13 pounds, 10 ounces have been caught from the eastside of the mouth of Crab Creek, as it enters Potholes Reservoir. Soda Lake has also been producing Walleye for a quite few.

Our next upcoming event is the annual Beach Party Poker Run this weekend on Potholes Reservoir. Take your boat or jet-ski out to each of the dune islands to play challenging games and win the best hands to win cash and some great prizes! If you don't have a boat, you can even play on land at the resort. The entry fee is $30, and this is an all day event with a special beach party closing with music, food, dancing, and more! This event is a fundraiser for the Central Washington Fish Advisory Committee, which plants habitat boxes all over Potholes Reservoir to ensure the flourishing fish species for the next generation. In fishing event news, The Old Farts & Family Bass Tournament will be held Saturday, Sept. 10. Come enjoy six hours of fun competition, in which the team has to be over 40 years of age. Parent/Kid teams are acceptable as long as one person is over 40. The Dock Fishing Tournament & Pie Social is coming up Sept. 16!
