Bulldog, Viking girls play to tie

COEUR d'ALENE - Emma Weme scored the tying goal in the 75th minute as the Sandpoint Bulldogs tied the Coeur d'Alene Vikings 2-2 in a nonleague match Saturday.
"It was a good battle," Coeur d'Alene coach Tarragh Carr said. "I felt like our girls played really well in the first half. We had some great opportunities and so did Sandpoint, but we came out flat in the second half, but rallied in the final moments."
Ashlie Ward and Bekah Brendif scored the first two goals of the match for Coeur d'Alene (2-0-1), which travels to Lewiston on Tuesday.
Maggie Kirscher had eight saves for Sandpoint (1-1-1), which travels to Lake City on Tuesday.

POST FALLS - Jennifer Hansen scored two unassisted goals as the Bengals defeated the Trojans in the 5A Inland Empire League opener for both schools.
"It was an evenly fought game," Post Falls coach Briggs Anderson said. "They capitalized on their chances to score and we didn't. It just wasn't our day for scoring. They had four shots on goal and four goals. Those are tough odds to fight."
Kelsey Hedge scored on an assist from Lexie Smith in the 18th minute for Post Falls (1-2, 0-1 5A IEL), which travels to Lake City on Thursday.

ST. MARIES - The visiting Lumberjacks were unable to field a complete team and were forced to forfeit their Intermountain League match against the Maniacs.
St. Maries (0-3, 0-2 IML) is scheduled to travel to Bonners Ferry on Thursday.

SANDPOINT - Sophomore Joab Logan scored a hat trick, including a header from 15 yards out off a corner kick, propelling the Bulldogs past Whitefish (Mont.) in nonleague play at Centennial Field.
Austin Keyes picked up the shutout in goal, stopping eight shots, and Sandpoint coach Adam Tajan called the play of his back four solid and organized.
"Any time you can get a clean sheet it's something to build on," said Tajan, lauding the play of Logan in the attack. "It's good to see him find the back of the net and have composure in the final third."
Jeremiah Gagnon added his third goal of the season, and Raleigh Hanson scored his first for the Bulldogs (2-0-1), who play at Coeur d'Alene on Wednesday after a 2-2 tie in the first meeting.
