Sandra Kay Houston passed away Saturday, Aug. 27, 2011. She was born Feb. 29, 1948, to Harry and Lella (Pete) Appelberg in Hamilton, Mont.

Her father preceded her in death in 1986 and she is survived by her mother; two sisters, Patricia Phillips and Liz Appelberg-Ball; her only daughter, Toni Meyer; grandson Kevin Meyer and her ex-husband, George Houston.

Sandy worked in local lounges, taverns and restaurants for 40-plus years and at the IGA Bakery for 13 years and was well known and loved.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 4-9 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 1, 2011, at her daughter’s home, 1919 N. Eighth St., Coeur d’Alene. Food and beverages will be served. Bring your own memories, pictures and stories.

The family asks in lieu of flowers that donations be made to the Humane Society in Sandy’s name for the care of cats.
