Flathead Valley Community College created a class this fall for educators who work with children under 36 months old. 

Each student completing the course becomes a Montana Certified Infant Toddler Caregiver.

The course provides infant and toddler educators a developmental foundation in theories, issues, research and application in program planning for infants and toddlers. 

The class involves observing and documenting infants and toddlers in group settings, planning inclusive environments for infants and toddlers and learning about the importance of understanding and working with families. 

Upon completing the course, each student receives a $500 stipend and eligibility for a Continuity of Care Stipend of up to $1,600 over 18 months for those who work directly with infants and toddlers in the same facility for that period time.

FVCC is currently enrolling students in the class, which meets Mondays and Wednesdays from 5 to 6:30 p.m. through the fall semester.
