COEUR d'ALENE - Issues with Time Warner Cable's phone and Internet service this weekend carried through to Monday, affecting entities like Coeur d'Alene Charter Academy.
After many Kootenai County residents experienced lack of Internet or phone service on Sunday, the school released an email announcement on Monday that its phones had been down all morning, and that folks should communicate via email.
"We have been in communication with Time-Warner about the problem," the announcement from attendance secretary Kelley Gleixner stated. "They, however, do not know the cause, and, in fact, informed us that most business phones in the Coeur d'Alene area have been affected."
Darryl Ryan, TWC spokesman, reported that service was fully restored by Monday afternoon.
An intermittent outage occurred on Sunday, he stated in an email.
Issues on Monday were not an additional outage, he wrote, but related to the weekend's problems.
"Overall, a few thousand subscribers across the western United States were impacted over the course of the day," he stated. "For most, the outage was very short lived."
TWC engineers and technicians are still looking into the cause of the outage, he added.
"Clearly, our first priority was to return service to all, so we can now begin to investigate what caused the incident," he wrote.
Milinda Martin with Pacific West, representing TWC, wrote that it is possible the outage is connected to Hurricane Irene that just ravaged the East Coast.
"We can appreciate that the timing allowed some to believe there was a connection, especially as Time Warner Cable has a national footprint of service," she stated.
