Coeur d'Alene Press | UPDATED 14 years, 3 months AGO
Search and rescue teams were searching the area between Carlin and Crescent bays on Lake Coeur d'Alene late Tuesday for an adult male who reportedly fell overboard from a boat about 8:40 p.m.
Crews from the Kootenai County Sheriff's Office dive team, Kootenai County Fire and Rescue, Eastside Fire and Worley Ambulance were in the area searching both in the water and on shore, said Sheriff's Maj. Ben Wolfinger.
"We're treating it as a drowning, looking for the guy," Wolfinger said. "We don't know if he swam ashore or if he drowned in the lake."
The search was called off at 11 p.m. and will resume this morning, weather permitting.
Wolfinger said the male was with a friend who reported the incident. Further information about the two men wasn't available late Tuesday.
The search on the lake was focusing in the channel part near the middle, Wolfinger said.
The reporting party first said he thought he was near Gotham Bay, but first responders eventually found the reporting party near the center of the lake.
