Whitefish School District has announced

its 2011-2012 policy for free and reduced-priced meals for students

whose schools participate in the U.S. Department of Agriculture

National School Lunch Program and School Breakfast Program.

Children from households whose income

is at or below the federal income guidelines may be eligible for

free or reduced-price school meals.

A household of one may qualify for free

meals if their annual income is at or below $14,157 or for reduced

meals if their annual income is at or below $20,147. The allowed

income level increases based on household size.

Application forms will be sent to each

home with a letter to parents or guardians. To apply for free or

reduced-price meals, households must fill out the application and

return it to the school. If a household is eligible for SNAP, the

household will receive a Direct Certification letter from the

Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services in the

mail.

Applications may be submitted at any

time during the year. Households will be notified of eligibility

determination.

For more information contact the

Whitefish School District at 862-8640.
