Harry Paul Mottsman, 55, aka Sam Haley Rose

co-founder of Alternative One, has been arrested for an outstanding

felony warrant in Flathead County for allegedly forging checks.

“We have been investigating him (Mottsman) for

about a week,” Lincoln County Sheriff Roby Bowe said about a

warrant issued in 2009 by Flathead County.

According to Sheriff’s reports, Mottsman asked

to see Lt. Roger Guches at the Sheriff’s office in Libby at 1:01

p.m. on Wednesday.

“He wanted to file a complaint about the mine

(Montanore),” Bowe said.

For more than a week, deputies and dispatchers

had been in contact with Flathead County officials concerning the

warrant for Mottsman. By 1:07 p.m. the Sheriff’s office had

received identification confirmation and advised the suspect was in

custody.

“We ran the alias names with the warrant out

of Flathead and they checked out,” Bowe said.

Throughout the U.S. Mottsman has reportedly

used alias names “Dave Griffin,” “Harold P. Mattsman,” “Sam

Alexander Rose” and “Sam Haley Rose.”

Mottsman was arrested at 1:49 p.m. by local

sheriffs for a felony warrant issued in Flathead County by Federal

Marshal Jake Smith.

“Mottsman is his real name, or at least the

name we have for him now,” Flathead Sheriff Chuck Curry said. “He

is in our jail.”

The warrant in Flathead County was issued in

2009 for allegedly forging checks. Before seeing the judge this

afternoon, Mottsman’s bond is set at $20,000.

Curry confirmed Mottsman’s incarceration in

Kalispell. When asked what steps will be taken next,

“He (Mottsman) will see the judge today and we

will see what transpires over the next few weeks,” Curry said.

Currently the case is in the hands of Flathead

officials. However, Lincoln County was a key factor in the Mottsman

arrest.

“The dispatcher and deputies did a tremendous

job with researching records,” Bowe said.  “He is

wanted in Vermont and New Hampshire too for forgery.”

The Western News has attempted to contact

Mottsman’s wife Lynne Haley Rose for comment. However, no comment

has been issued at this time. She is also not under investigation

for any criminal involvement.

“Because he has multiple warrants …I’m

guessing there will be more than one bond,” Bowe said.

“I don’t know if it would possible for him to

pay his bond and be released from jail.”
