MOSES LAKE - The Moses Lake Tactical Response Team assisted the FBI in the arrest of a suspect in connection with several armed robberies.

On Nov. 23, Grant County sheriff's deputies received a call from the Federal Bureau of Investigation's Seattle Safe Streets Task Force seeking assistance in locating Jason T. Achurra, 23, Kent, according to Grant County Undersheriff Dave Ponozzo.

Achurra, who is suspected of being involved in a number of armed robberies in the Seattle area, had an arrest warrant for felon in possession of a firearm and possession of a firearm in the first degree, Ponozzo stated.

The FBI reportedly warned Achurra could be armed with a high-caliber assault rifle and several hundred rounds of ammunition.

An agent provided Achurra's vehicle description and possible location on Lorri Lane near Moses Lake, which Ponozzo said was checked throughout the evening with no initial contact.

At around 1:45 a.m. Nov. 24 deputies found the suspect vehicle unoccupied in the driveway at the Lorri Lane address, Ponozzo stated. Because the suspect was allegedly involved in previous robberies and may have been armed, deputies requested assistance from the Moses Lake Regional Tactical Response Team.

Once on scene, a police crisis negotiator phoned the home and spoke to a family member who confirmed Achurra was inside. The suspect then reportedly came to the door voluntarily and was arrested without incident.

Achurra's vehicle was impounded and the FBI is securing a search warrant for the vehicle, Ponozzo stated.

"We are happy to help our FBI partners get this suspected dangerous felon off the street," stated Sheriff Tom Jones. "As always, the Moses Lake Tactical Response Team did a professional job of safely apprehending someone sought for committing serious crimes."
