Teen denies assault charge in bus case

A teenager denied an assault charge Friday related to the Glacier High School freshman football bus case.
Truman Pisk, 15, denied the charge of misdemeanor assault stemming from a Sept. 12 incident in which at least four players were pulled to the back of the bus, held down and assaulted.
Pisk faces the same charge in Flathead Youth Court leveled against teammates Logan Jones — who admitted guilt on Nov. 23 — and Charles Calobeer.
Calobeer has denied the charge.
In Youth Court, there are no pleas: Defendants either admit or deny charges.
According to charging documents, Pisk’s involvement included bringing two victims — one of them by force and one by threat — to the back of the bus where they were assaulted.
Pisk is alleged to have told the victims that it would be worse for them in the locker room if they resisted. He also allegedly held the victims down by lying on top of them.
Jones admitted covering the victims’ mouths so they couldn’t call for help, threatening them that it would be worse for them later if they struggled, punching them in the groin and poking them through their pants.
During Friday’s hearing, all the audience benches on the defendant’s side were full. A small handful of family members attended on behalf of the victims.
Pisk’s next court date is Jan. 18. Calobeer also is scheduled to appear on that date. Jones has a disposition hearing — the Youth Court equivalent of sentencing — on Jan. 6.
