POST FALLS - Lighted RVs will roll through Post Falls on Friday night in a parade to benefit six local charities.
In hopes of what will become an annual event, Blue Dog RV will hold the first Post Falls RV Parade of Lights.
"We want to be community-minded and work with charities anyway, so we thought it would be fun at Christmastime to incorporate RVs into a lighted parade," said Rebecca Asplund of Blue Dog RV.
The goal is to have 50 RVs participate and raise $2,500.
The parade starts at 7 p.m. at Templin's Red Lion Hotel and is expected to last for about an hour. There will be five sites to view the parade, enjoy free refreshments and select your best-decorated RV by donating if you wish.
Stops on the parade route, and the benefitting charities that will be represented at each stop, include in order:
* Red Lion Templin's, St. Vincent de Paul booth;
* Post Falls Senior Center, senior center and Post Falls Food Bank's Weekend Nutrition Program booths;
* Super 1 Foods, Idaho Foster and Adoptive Parent Association booth;
* Walmart (on Mullan), Children's Village booth; and
* River City Center (Highway 41 and Mullan), Dirne Community Health Center booth.
Parade viewers are encouraged to be at the site of the charity they want to donate to, but can designate the charity at any of the sites.
There is no cost for RV owners to participate. For the first 50 RVs in the parade, Blue Dog will donate $50 to their charity of choice. The RV with the most donations - based on "votes" from parade viewers on the best decorated rigs - wins a $500 gift certificate for Blue Dog parts or service.
Parade participants are limited to RVs.
