Clagstone Meadows meeting is today

SANDPOINT - Bonner County commissioners are conducting a special meeting this month to review a draft development agreement for Clagstone Meadows, a 1,200-unit resort community.
The meeting is set for 9 a.m. today in the Bonner County Administration Building.
The development agreement is being reviewed administratively, so there will be no public testimony taken during the meeting.
The county approved the 12,442-acre planned unit development's conceptual land use plan last year. The county's Planning & Zoning Commission reviewed a draft development agreement in October.
The agreement is a binding contract between the county and developers Clagstone Meadows LLC and one of the conditional approval for the project. It addresses design standards, natural resources and wildlife management, transportation improvements and a host of other matters.
A draft copy of the 51-page agreement can be downloaded from the Planning Department's portion of the county's website (www.co.bonner.id.us). It can be found by clicking the projects button in the planning links pull-down menu.
Clagstone Meadows would be the largest project in Bonner County in terms of acreage. It would be the second-most dense development in the county behind Schweitzer Mountain.
The project would be located north of Kelso Lake and west of U.S. 95 in south-central Bonner County.
The proposal encountered stiff opposition from neighboring landowners who contended the project would fracture wildlife habitat, negatively impact water quality and shatter the rural tranquility of the area.
