BOISE, Idaho (AP) — The head of Idaho's consumer protection division warns that even he is not immune to identity theft.

Deputy Attorney General Brett DeLange says several fraudulent charges were made to his credit card a couple of months ago. The Idaho Statesman reported (http://bit.ly/tONB25 ) Monday that DeLange still doesn't know how someone obtained his credit card information.

The newspaper reports identity theft is among the top complaints from Idaho residents recorded by the federal Internet Crime Complaint Center. Last year, about 19 percent of the 1,246 calls from Idaho were complaints about identity theft.

DeLange suggests that credit card users monitor their statements regularly for irregular activity.
